About Jessica

Hello! Thank you for joining me here.

To tell you a bit about myself professionally, I began practicing psychotherapy in 2021 while completing the Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology program through Yorkville University. I have experience in treating anxiety, depression, grief, relationship concerns, and struggles with significant life change through a mixture of therapeutic approaches tailored specifically to you since there is no "one-size-fits-all" when it comes to healing. As your therapist, it is my intention to approach our sessions from a compassionate lens, bringing authenticity and acceptance into each and every session.

Personally, I am a wife and a mother. The path thus far has been filled with good and bad experiences/transitions, resulting in my own healing journey that has allowed me to reconnect with myself through self-compassion, creativity, and acceptance. This has allowed me to develop the values that I strongly believe in and continue using to inform my practice, including empathy, and authenticity.

Something that I continue to discover is that no one can ever really be an expert on anything. There is always something new around the corner for us to learn and grow from, which is why I consider myself to be a lifelong learner throughout this journey both personally and professionally. I chose psychotherapy because it aligned with my passion to empower others along their own journeys, and seeing the benefit that psychotherapy can have only ignites this passion more.

Therapeutic Approach

No one experiences life and its challenges in the same way, so why would there just be one approach to therapy? There are so many approaches to therapy out there, so I'd like to tell you a bit about what to expect from me. I follow a client centred approach to therapy, where I pull from a few different modalities and we collaborate in those first sessions to create an overall treatment plan that is tailored to you. You definitely do NOT need to know everything about these modalities for us to use them in session, that's what I'm here for! But just in case you would like to have a bit more information on them, I've added some links below to some great resources on each. The evidence-based modalities that I use in sessions are Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS) informed, Narrative Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I also offer Brainspotting sessions, which has some exciting evidence behind it as well. I always want you to make informed decisions about your care, so I invite you to take a look at the links below for more information on any of these modalities and, as always, please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions.

Who Do I Work With?

I work with adults 18+ years of age who want to reconnect with themselves to feel whole again. Together, we work to better understand the role that their survival instincts have played to get them through life to this point, and explore ways of living life to the fullest rather than just surviving it. These are some examples of the topics I work with in session:

  • Anxiety and stress

  • Attachment

  • Body shame

  • Boundary work

  • Burnout and compassion fatigue

  • Career/workplace stress

  • Chronic pain and illness

  • Communication

  • Depression

  • Grief and loss

  • Identity

  • LGBTQ+ populations

  • Life pathway support

  • Life transitions (perinatal, postpartum, new parents, students, retirement)

  • Mood disruptions

  • Obesity and weight loss

  • Obsessions and compulsions

  • People-pleasing

  • Perfectionism

  • Relationship challenges

  • Self-esteem, self-criticism, self-doubt, self-worth

  • Trauma

  • Women's issues/experiences
